Hikora Terms of Use
Effective Date: October 13, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Hikora, a personal hiking record application that provides GPS route tracking, scenic spot documentation, hiking statistics, and hiking history management.
By accessing or using Hikora, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the application.
2. Description of the Service
Hikora provides tools to help users document and review hiking experiences. Depending on the features available in your version of the application, these tools may include:
- GPS-based hiking route recording.
- Hiking start, pause, resume, and end controls.
- Distance, duration, and average movement speed calculations.
- Scenic spot marking and location association.
- Photograph selection and scenic notes.
- Hiking history and route details.
- Hiking summary cards combining route information, statistics, and photographs.
- Editing and deleting saved hiking records.
Hikora is intended primarily as a personal activity-recording tool. It is not a substitute for professional navigation equipment, an emergency communication service, or an authoritative source of trail safety information.
3. Eligibility and Responsible Use
You agree to use Hikora in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.
You must not:
- Use the application for unlawful purposes.
- Attempt to interfere with the application's normal operation or security.
- Misrepresent recorded information in a manner intended to deceive or harm others.
- Use the application in a way that violates another person's privacy or intellectual property rights.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or services associated with the application.
You are responsible for how you use the information recorded or displayed by Hikora.
4. Location Permissions and GPS Accuracy
Certain features require location permissions and access to your device's location services.
You are responsible for enabling the appropriate permissions if you wish to use GPS route tracking and location-linked scenic records.
GPS accuracy and availability may be affected by terrain, dense vegetation, buildings, weather conditions, device capabilities, battery settings, and other environmental factors.
Recorded routes, distances, and movement speeds are estimates based on available location data and the application's calculations. They may contain inaccuracies, missing segments, or interruptions.
Hikora does not guarantee that every recorded route will precisely represent your actual movement.
5. Outdoor Safety
Hikora is designed to document hiking experiences, not to determine whether a route is safe or suitable for you.
Before and during a hike, you should independently assess trail conditions, weather, daylight, terrain, your physical capabilities, and the equipment required for your activity.
Do not rely solely on Hikora for navigation, hazard detection, route selection, or emergency assistance.
You are responsible for complying with trail regulations, respecting closures and restricted areas, and making appropriate safety decisions.
If location recording fails or the application becomes unavailable, do not assume that your route is being tracked continuously.
6. User Records and Content
You retain responsibility for the photographs, notes, route descriptions, and other content you create or import into Hikora.
You represent that you have the necessary rights or permissions to use such content.
You agree not to use Hikora to store or distribute unlawful content or material that infringes another person's rights.
Hikora may process your content as necessary to provide features such as route display, scenic spot association, hiking history, and summary card generation.
You should review photographs and location details before sharing them, particularly when they reveal your home, frequently visited locations, or other sensitive places.
7. Saved Records and Data Management
Hikora may provide options to review, edit, and delete hiking records.
You are responsible for checking the accuracy of your records and maintaining any copies you wish to preserve.
Deleting a record or uninstalling the application may result in the loss of associated route information, photographs, notes, or other locally stored data.
Unless expressly provided by the application, Hikora does not guarantee that deleted records can be recovered or that records are automatically backed up or synchronized across devices.
8. Sharing and Third-Party Services
If you use system sharing features, you are responsible for choosing the recipients and reviewing the information being shared.
Maps, operating system services, and other third-party services used in connection with Hikora may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies.
Hikora is not responsible for the independent availability, accuracy, policies, or practices of third-party services to the extent permitted by applicable law.
9. Intellectual Property
The Hikora application, including its original design, branding, interface, and associated materials, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except as permitted by law or expressly authorized by the relevant rights holder, you may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit protected parts of the application.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of your personal hiking photographs, notes, or other content to Hikora.
10. Availability and Changes
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue certain application features to maintain, improve, or protect the service, subject to applicable law.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every feature will operate on every device or operating system version.
Changes in device permissions, operating system behavior, GPS availability, or third-party services may affect application functionality.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hikora is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We do not warrant that the application will always be available, error-free, uninterrupted, or capable of recording every location point accurately.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any consumer rights or statutory warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hikora and its operators shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of or inability to use the application.
We are not responsible for hiking accidents, route conditions, GPS inaccuracies, lost records, device failures, or decisions made solely on the basis of information displayed by the application, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
13. Termination
You may stop using Hikora at any time.
We may restrict or discontinue access to the application where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security concerns, legal requirements, or operational issues, subject to applicable law.
Termination or discontinuation does not eliminate obligations or rights that arose before the relevant date.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms when the application or applicable legal requirements change.
The updated Terms will include a revised effective date. Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice or obtain any necessary consent.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws applicable to the operator and the user's use of the application, subject to mandatory consumer protection and other applicable legal requirements.
Nothing in this section removes rights that cannot be waived under the laws applicable to you.
